Curriculum

At Lydford Primary School, our curriculum is designed to nurture, inspire and support every child to achieve their full potential. We aim to create confident, capable and compassionate learners who are well prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond.

At the heart of everything we do are our core values: Nurture, Inspire and Achieve. These values shape our school community, guide our teaching, and are thoughtfully woven throughout every subject and learning experience.

We want our pupils to:

  • Nurture – develop confidence, wellbeing and a strong sense of self; show kindness and empathy towards others; and feel safe, supported and valued as part of our school community.
  • Inspire – be curious, motivated learners who enjoy discovering new ideas, asking questions and exploring the world around them with enthusiasm.
  • Achieve – strive to do their best, persevere when faced with challenges and take pride in their progress and accomplishments.

Our curriculum is broad, balanced and carefully planned, ensuring that knowledge and skills build progressively over time. We provide rich and engaging learning opportunities through high-quality teaching, outdoor learning, visits and visitors, creative arts, physical activity and meaningful real-world experiences.

Above all, we want our children to know themselves, believe in their abilities and feel inspired to succeed. By embedding our values throughout the curriculum, we prepare our pupils not only for academic success, but also for life as thoughtful, resilient and responsible individuals in the wider world.
